Is your backside wider than your hips? Would you say you look like an hourglass? You, my friend, are pear-shaped. Pear-shaped is the most common body shape. Here are some tips on how to dress your body.
Boot cut jeans, pants with with wider ends, and pants that are structured elongate legs and balance them with your hips. Stay away from skinny jeans and cigarette pants. Avoid embellishments on pants, and choose darker colors on the bottom, since your goal is to draw attention on top. You might have to go up a size in pants to accommodate your thighs and butt. The waist will need to be taken in for the pant to fit properly.
Pear-Shaped women should focus attention upward. Choose button down shirts, v-necks, scoop necks, and fitted shirts. Patterns on top and statement sleeves balance everything out! Look for shirts that have an embellished neckline to keep the eye at that the slimmest part of the body. The shirt should hit at the waist right at the waist, or should be long, past the behind. This will keep the eye looking away from the curviest part of the body.
Layering garments can offer balance, and is a good option. Jackets that are cropped, boxy or hit at the waist all will work for you.
Choose A-line dresses, they emphasize the top, and slim the hips. Hemlines right below the knee will elongate your legs.
