Meet Andy Batcheller
Andy Batcheller recently joined the Simplify Life team as a Counseling Associate for teens, men, and couples.
He’s passionate about meeting people where they are and normalizing therapy for those who are reluctant to the idea at first.
We asked him some questions.
“
I’m the therapist for people who say, ‘I don't go to therapy.’
What do you love most about being a counselor?
I love being invited into peoples’ stories.
It’s a privilege to walk alongside and help people navigate their therapeutic journey. I love witnessing the transformation, seeing people thrive not only in their career but also in their relationships, their faith, and ultimately the greater legacy they are leaving behind.
What made you want to be a counselor?
This is my second mountain, so to speak. I spent 25 years in the business world growing, running, and managing a successful business.
While I saw great success, I did not like the man staring back at me in the mirror. I wasn’t being the husband my wife deserved or the present father my daughters needed. I was chasing happiness and my priorities got out of line.
Once I decided to make a change, I felt called to help other men reconnect with their wife and kids, reprioritize what matters most, and become truly fulfilled.
It is because of my own journey that I am able to speak into the pain points men are feeling but often don't recognize or have a safe space to ask questions.
Who do you help?
I come alongside adolescents, men, couples, and families that feel stuck in the hard places of life.
I help men confront life’s challenges with courage, confidence, and simplicity in addressing anxiety, depression, perfectionism, stress management, family conflict, and career and life transitions. I help couples connect and communicate through deep authenticity.
I am passionate about helping people who want change and healing in their lives and relationships.
What do you love doing when you aren't counseling?
When I’m not counseling, I love spending one-on-one time with my wife and two daughters.
I also enjoy working with my hands, either in landscaping or fixing things around the house. I really love the feeling of accomplishing a task.
If you had a ticket to go anywhere, where would you go and why?
I would head to Israel. I have a longing to walk in the footsteps of Christ and experience the splendor of the places I have studied in the Word.
I'm on the fence about going to counseling. What's your advice to me?
There is no such thing as self-help. Everyone is struggling with at least one thing at any given time, and we are designed to be in community so that we don’t have to struggle alone.
I’m the therapist for people who say, "I don't go to therapy." If that’s you, this is an invitation to discover healing and allow someone to walk with you through whatever it is you’re trying to walk through alone.
