Teens and Adults

Carolyn Amayo

Licensed Associate Professional Counselor

Building the life you want, figuring out who you are, and dealing with those 'supposed to have it all figured out' pressures can feel like a juggling act. But here's the thing – it's your life, your journey. I'm here to help you cut through the noise and find your path, minus the pressure to fit that picture-perfect mold.

My Story

Growing up, I naturally took on the role of the "easy child" in my family. I knew how to meet expectations and keep the peace, always sensing what others needed and putting my own needs aside. On the outside, I looked like I had it all figured out. Inside, though, I was wrapped up in worrying about what people thought, fearing rejection, and feeling an exhausting need to make everyone around me happy. It wasn't until I started my own therapy journey that I began to understand how my past shaped me. Through gaining insight into my experiences, I discovered something that changed everything: the power of setting boundaries and living more authentically. That transformation inspired me to become a therapist, and now, I’m here to help others break free from those same patterns.

Who I Help:

For the adults, I get it - that constant mental chatter of "did I say the right thing?" and the exhausting loop of replaying every social interaction. Maybe you're the one who's always keeping it together at work, making sure everyone else is okay, all while feeling like you're one deep breath away from overwhelm. Whether you're caught in patterns of checking and re-checking, lost in spirals of "what-if" thoughts, or feeling trapped in the cycle of people-pleasing at work and home, you don't have to keep carrying all of this alone. Therapy services in Buckhead can help you break free from these patterns and find new ways of coping.

And for the teens - I see you too. Maybe you're the one who looks like they have it all together in class, but inside your heart is racing every time the teacher might call on you. Or perhaps lunch feels impossible because you're caught up in where to sit and what others might be thinking. Between test anxiety, social pressures, and trying to figure out who you really are (while managing family expectations), it's a lot to handle.

Whether you're navigating the halls of high school, stepping onto a college campus for the first time, or trying to find your footing in your career while balancing family relationships, I'm here to help you find your voice and create a life that feels more like you - not just who everyone else needs you to be.

How I work

I offer a warm, down-to-earth space where you can show up just as you are—no need for perfection here! Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we’ll unpack those thought patterns that keep you tangled up in anxiety and people-pleasing. With a little help from attachment theory, we’ll explore how you connect with others, learning new ways to balance their needs with your own.

For those looking for flexibility and convenience, I also offer online therapy in Buckhead, so you can get the support you need from wherever you are.

Together, we’ll figure out how to set boundaries that feel right for you. You’ll build confidence in social settings and start creating relationships where you feel free to show up as your full self. My goal is for you to feel more solid in who you are, trusting your own voice rather than constantly looking to others for validation.

About Caroyln

When I'm not in session, you can usually find me in the garden, enjoying the calm and peace it brings. I love experimenting with sourdough baking (even when it doesn’t turn out as planned!) and planning family adventures with my husband of seven years and our two little ones. Seeing the world through their eyes is a constant reminder of how much joy there is in the simple things.

As a licensed counselor in Buckhead, I bring the same warmth and attention to detail to my professional work as I do to my personal life.

My faith keeps me grounded and guides my path forward. Whether it's a big part of your life or not, I’m always open to conversations about spirituality in whatever way feels meaningful to you.

Carolyn’s session fee is $150 per 50-minute session. Limited sliding scale options are available.
