Kids 7+, Teens, and Women
Brooke Bourne Lawrence, MA, APC
Licensed Associate Professional Counselor
Growing up I witnessed first hand the result of pain and the inability to learn from mistakes. I have always wanted to provide the tools for safety, security, and motivation to walk through trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief especially with kids, teens, and women.
My Story
During my time in graduate school, I had the opportunity to take specialized classes related to complex trauma. I learned how to work with individuals using evidence based research to intervene with children and adolescents and their care givers addressing the whole family system. I use tools to help provide coping skills, address attachment issues, and increase emotional regulation.
How I work
I believe every story is unique and asks me to be present with each individual and family in front of me. With this belief, I am able to show up and offer both direct and empathetic communication as needed. Something that is unique to me, is I enjoy using illustrations from nature. When thinking about anxiety, change, and grief, I like to remind people that no feeling is final and come and go like the waves. I love working in Norcross because the historic downtown offers many opportunities for walks and are quickly accessible to beautiful parks. Utilizing these outdoor spaces, I am able to put into motion these feelings and allowing my client to ride the waves and leave feeling more grounded than when they came. I believe that you are the keeper of your own story, the expert on your child and family. In our time together, I get to learn your story, provide strategic tools to help you meet your personalized goals. I am grateful to be a piece in the puzzle for your healing journey.
About Brooke
My self-care practices consist of playing outdoor sports, going on long runs, calling a friend, reading a historical fiction novel, singing in the car, eating a good meal, and sleeping a whole 8 hours. The easiest way to fill my cup is mainly through close friends and family. My greatest interest and habit is being in community with my church. I found myself more grounded and known after leaving small groups, walks, and Sunday church more than any other place. I believe that habits created here are foundational for myself to keep the rhythms and Health, that I believe in so strongly intact. The vulnerability and kindness that I found in this interest helps me to enhance my therapy and make it a safe and authentic space. Lastly, being outside encompasses, a lot of my interests. The seasons remind me of the growth and pruning that we have in ourselves when in nature, I find myself at rest.
Brooke’s session fee is $100 per 50-minute session.
