Licensed Master Social Worker

If you're feeling overwhelmed by the weight of difficult thoughts, feelings, emotions, or experiences, Mary Hathaway would love to come alongside you as a partner in your healing and growth and empower you to take on life's challenges.

My Story

Hi! I’m Mary Hathaway, a licensed master social worker and counselor. Through my work with families involved in foster care and with single parents facing poverty, I know that our lives are full of unexpected changes, difficult transitions, and devastating loss. However, I believe that in the midst of transitions and change, we have an opportunity to heal, become more ourselves, and make decisions about our values and identity that can guide us into the future. I’m passionate about offering support and evidence-based strategies to treat symptoms of anxiety and depression as you navigate drastic life transitions, whether that is beginning college, navigating post-grad life, losing or gaining a job, grieving a difficult loss, or adjusting to the incredible change that is pregnancy and postpartum. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and anxious with all that is coming at you, I’d love to be a part of your support team in navigating changes, dealing with past wounds, and figuring out what you value for the future.

How I work Through a collaborative and strengths-based approach, I give space for you to talk through your experiences, emotions, and challenges. I utilize Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), which focuses on being present through mindfulness and accepting thoughts and feelings while staying connected to the values most important to you, as well as narrative therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems. I believe that you are the expert of your life and situation and treat each person I work with individually, rather than using a one-size fits all approach. I also believe in the importance of our bodies in our healing and utilize somatic techniques such as deep breathing, movement, and body scans with my clients.

About Mary I love being outside and am a huge advocate of walks as a way to take care of yourself. I enjoy cooking, a good novel, podcasts, nerding out about theology, and playing games with my friends. I’m a mom to a sweet baby boy and love a slow Saturday morning with him and my husband. I’m passionate about community building as a way to bridge gaps between people.

Mary’s session fee is $100 per 50-minute session.
